2 Corinthians 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ…
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how people represent themselves, or more importantly, how we are representing the Church and Christ. I love reading blogs and I love social media, but sometimes I am so saddened (and admittedly angered) by the things some of my sisters in Christ are posting. I think it is easy to forget that when people know that we are believers and especially if they know that we are in ministry (pastor’s wife/worship leader/youth leader/missionary/etc) everything we say or write (especially what we post online for the world to read on facebook, twitter or blogs) is representing the church and Christ. That is a huge responsibility!
I am one who has said things and regretted them later too man times to count, so I am not trying to throw any stones here, but rather to challenge us all. We are ambassadors for Christ and like it or not the world and other believers are judging us by the things we post online.
Ladies, we need to take a stand for what is right. We need to ask ourselves hard questions about what we believe and why we believe it and then we need to go to the Word and see if it holds up or not. Some of the things my sisters in Christ are posting do NOT hold up and it has to stop. There is a generation of girls looking to us and learning from us. Are the things they are learning from us truth or are they what the world, the government and the public school systems say is true?
My husband posted something on twitter Sunday that I keep thinking about. “Does truth cease to be truth when it is no longer popular?” I know it is not popular to stand up and say that abortion is wrong or to stand for the Biblical model for marriage and parenting, but ladies but just because it isn’t popular does not make it any less true. We will be judged one day for the things we say and do and the things we do not say and are too afraid to do. And those who are in ministry will be judged more harshly. That is serious ladies! Let’s take back truth, even when it is scary.
James 3:4 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
Eph. 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up others according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
